The Minnesota Vikings are turning the page from the Mike Zimmer era to new Head Coach Kevin O' Connell. The Vikings feel like a team that needed an infusion of offensive ingenuity in the worst way. Justin Jefferson will make his claim as the top receiver in the NFL in 2022. Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison form a terrific 1-2 punch in the Vikings' backfield. Irv Smith Jr. can finally fulfill his potential at the TE position. There is a lot to like about the Minnesota Vikings heading into 2022.
My colleague David Costabile agrees. He believes the Minnesota Vikings are done with mediocrity. To check out his article, look no further.
The Arizona Cardinals are flirting with disaster. DeAndre Hopkins is suspended for six games to begin the 2022 season. The absence of Hopkins will hurt this offense. The Cardinals have lost key pieces to their defense heading into the 2022 season. The Cardinals' front office backed up the Brinks truck for Kyler Murray, but they have left him with a slim path to success. Kyler Murray can play Superman and save their season, but I believe the Cardinals will take a step back and miss the playoffs in 2022.
The Philadelphia Eagles have had a tremendous off-season and have positioned themselves well as we head into the 2022 season. A.J. Brown will make all the difference for the Eagles offense. The Eagles have a trio in Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert that can threaten defenses in many ways. The Eagles have added bulk to the interior of their defense in Jordan Davis, additional pressure on the edge in Haason Reddick, and bolstered their secondary with James Bradberry. The Eagles made the playoffs a year ago and are a far superior team heading into 2022.
I wonder if the New Orleans Saints are on the verge of imploding. Alvin Kamara could face a suspension during the 2022 season, and he wasn't good in 2021. How can you express much confidence in Michael Thomas? I am not buying the blanket statement that Thomas is back. We don't know much about Dennis Allen as a Head Coach, but we know that Sean Payton is one of the best offensive minds in the game and one of the better play-callers--the Saints will miss Payton. The question mark remains Jameis Winston. Winston did play well early in 2021, before his injury. I see a world where Jameis Winston reverts to the turnover-prone quarterback we have known over the years. With so many question marks, I'm willing to bet the Saints fail to make the playoffs for the second year in a row.
