Week 3 Record: 4-1 / Overall: 6-3-1

We were breathing fire in Week 3 finishing with a 4-1 record on the day.

Minnesota (-27.5) started our slate out with one of the easiest wins you’ll have all season.  They absolutely demolished Colorado by 42 at home.

Next came the Wake Forest/Liberty over 63.5 where it looked grim for much of the game but the defenses died late as I expected and we cashed.

Washington (-3) was next and I was counting my money as the Huskies jumped out to a 22-0 lead over Michigan State.  The Spartans didn’t go away in the 2nd half but ultimately Washington hung on for a comfy 9-point victory in front of a raucous Husky Stadium.

My one blemish came at the hands of the Miami Hurricanes (+5) who went down 17-9 to Texas A&M.  It was such a frustrating game for us Miami backers as they attempted just 5 field goals, missing two crucial ones that would have at least gotten us a push we so rightly deserved.

Finishing a long, glorious day of gambling was my #1 best bet of the day, the Trojans of USC (-12.5).  The offense simply could not be stopped all night and stomped Fresno 45-17.

Get on board now because I’m seeing the board as clear as ever entering Week 4 of the College Football season.

5. James Madison (+7 -110) AT Appalachian St - 3:30 PM - ESPN+

We start in the Sun Belt, or should I say the Fun Belt, with the James Madison Dukes catching 7 points at App St.  I’m attacking this one in a number of ways.  First and foremost, App St has had some of the most exciting games you’ll ever see in the past few weeks.  First was the 63-61 video game like matchup against UNC and then last week they beat rival Troy on an absurd Hail Mary which will be a highlight we’ll see forever.

But when is the other shoe going to drop for the Mountaineers?

They simply can’t keep playing with all this fire.

JMU finally became a proud FBS member this past July after years of dominating the FCS division.  They’ve only played two games this year so far, and against nobodies, but I believe are the real deal.  The Dukes’ defense is excellent, especially against the run.

Here’s a stat for you, JMU hasn’t even let an opponent ENTER the red zone this season.  They’ll absolutely be up for this game and I predict a bit of a let down for App St.  Take the 7 points.

4. Maryland vs. #4 Michigan (OVER 64.5 -110) - 12 PM - FOX

Michigan is flat out ROLLING to start 2022.  However, they have played absolutely no-one.  Colorado St, Hawaii and UConn all at home in non-conference games is the epitome of a cake walk for a power team.  Maryland will be their first “test”.

I put test in quotes because the Terrapins have a ton of problems on the defensive side of the ball.  Sure, they’re 3-0 to start the year, but I don’t see any scenario where they hold Michigan under 50+ points.  However, offensively Maryland has proven they can put points on the board as well.  Their tempo and production match a team who can score on anyone.

I see this game as a 51-21 type finish and would lean Michigan -17 if I had to.  But I like the over better in case Maryland breaks a few big plays.

3. #22 Texas (-7 -110) AT Texas Tech - 3:30 PM - ESPN

When are the Longhorns going to get some real respect?

After holding Alabama to what feels like a decade low 20 points in Week 2, Texas could have slipped up against a very dangerous and well coached UTSA team.

Instead, they took care of business 41-20 and dominated the second half 24-3.  The defense has been incredibly suffocating and appears to only be improving.

Texas Tech hasn’t impressed me in the least.  They hung on to beat Houston at home after blowing a big lead in Week 2.  Houston is clearly not what the world thought they’d be sitting at 1-2 and NC State bullied the Red Raiders around last week to hand Tech their first loss.

I see the Longhorns winning this one by 2 TDs comfortably showing the country they are in fact, BACK.

2. Duke AT Kansas (-7 -110) - 12 PM - FOX Sports 1

Listen, I’m aware Kansas is the apple of every gambler’s eye in 2022 so far.  I’ve cashed my share on them as well.  But they just simply are the real deal!

A matchup that would be must see during college basketball’s March Madness, Kansas comes in riding unbelievably high and have already cashed their season win total over in mid-September!  Head coach Lance Leipold has the entire country talking and he is sure to get scooped up by a major program if the Jayhawks keep this up.

The Kansas Jayhawk football team is an offensive powerhouse.

That’s a sentence I never thought I would write in my lifetime…

They’ve scored 56, 55 and 48 points in their 3 games this season.  And they aren’t playing Michigan’s non-conference schedule…  Game 1 was against lowly Tennessee Tech but then they traveled TO West Virginia and Houston.

They have been in the redzone a country leading TWENTY times already.  Wild.

Lining up on the other side is the Blue Devils who also stand 3-0.  However, unlike Kansas, they haven’t beaten anyone of consequence and haven’t looked particularly great either.  Lay the 7 and ride this Jayhawk wave.

1. #5 Clemson AT #21 Wake Forest (OVER 55.5 -110) - 12 PM - ABC

I’m back on the Wake Forest over train this week after cashing last Saturday.

This one is simple; this is Wake’s biggest game in years.  Maybe ever.

Wake is a live dog at home getting 7 points and feels like they have the QB (Sam Hartman) and offense that can score with anyone.  Yes, including the mighty Clemson Tigers.

Before this O/U line came out I honestly thought it would be in the high 50’s or even low 60’s.  At 55.5 I LOVE this over.

Clemson and QB DJ Uiagalelei have gotten a ton of flack nationally that they aren’t a plus offensive team.

I disagree.

They have proven so far this season they can move the ball whenever and however they like.  The Wake defense isn’t scaring a soul and Clemson will absolutely score this Saturday.

So will the Demon Deacons.

Their collective feet will be firmly on the gas pedal the entire game playing either from behind or smelling an upset in front of a crazed atmosphere in Winston-Salem.

Good luck!
