10/1/22: THE PREGAME--Breaking Down Our Favorite Plays for Week 5

The College Football season rolls on with action every week! Ohio State put away Wisconsin early and remains the dominant force in the Big Ten. Alabama continued its dominance with a blowout victory over Vanderbilt. Clemson and Michigan survived scares, while Oklahoma did not, falling from the unbeaten ranks.

We move along to Week Five, where there are several intriguing match-ups. Without further adieu, let's dive in!

WEEK 5:

Washington Huskies (-2.5) at UCLA Bruins

The UCLA Bruins, oddly enough, have put up 45 points in three consecutive weeks. The Chip Kelly-led offense can score points. Washington poses the biggest challenge to the Bruins yet. I'm going to stick with a hot Bruins squad at home.

Michigan Wolverines (-11) at Iowa Hawkeyes

Last week was the first time a team challenged the Wolverines. Michigan squeaked out a victory over Maryland. I expect Michigan to unleash an offensive assault against Iowa on Saturday. Michigan wins big.

Kentucky Wildcats at Ole Miss Rebels (-7)

In one of the more exciting games of the weekend, two SEC unbeaten teams square off in Oxford. Admittedly, I don't understand this line. Ole Miss has been playing great, but it's not like Kentucky is a slouch. Will Levis has the Wildcats offense rolling on all cylinders. I can see Kentucky winning this game outright--I will take the points here.

Oklahoma Sooners (-6.5) at TCU Horned Frogs

Last week was a letdown spot for the Oklahoma Sooners as they were upset by a Kansas State program that is better than many thought coming into the season. Oklahoma is not a program that stays down long. Expect Oklahoma to bounce back in a big way against TCU this week. Take the Sooners.

Louisville Cardinal (-15.5) at Boston College Eagles

This Louisville team is all over the map week to week. Last week's blowout victory over South Florida illustrates their upside. This game would be a letdown week, but I don't believe Boston College has enough firepower to take advantage. The Cardinal pull away in the 2nd half.

Illinois Fighting Illini' at Wisconsin Badgers (-7)

Wisconsin will rally following a beatdown at the hands of Ohio State last week. Illinois is overmatched as the Badgers' running game rules the day. Take Wisconsin.

Alabama Crimson Tide (-17.5) at Arkansas Razorbacks

The Razorback faithful will be up for this one. Unfortunately for Arkansas, it will not matter. Alabama is just too talented on both sides of the ball. Roll Tide.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Florida State Seminoles (-7)

Wake Forest pushed Clemson last week in an overtime defeat. Wake Forest can score in several ways and poises too many problems for Florida State. This game is another where I could see an outright victory for the underdogs. Take the points.

Oklahoma State Cowboys at Baylor Bears (-2.5)

I like this Baylor program. This team has shown grit in wins and losses this year. In a close contest, I'll take Baylor at home.

Michigan State Spartans at Maryland Terrapins (-8.5)

Maryland showed the nation a lot last week as they pushed Michigan to the brink. This team has some firepower. The Spartans can't keep up with the offensive onslaught. Take the Terps.

California Golden Bears at Washington State Cougars (-4)

Washington State gave Oregon all they could handle last week, coming up short. California poses no such threat. Washington State wins by two scores.

LSU Tigers (-9) at Auburn Tigers

Outside of a loss to Florida State, where most viewers believe LSU blew it, the Tigers have been impressive in 2022. LSU has too much talent on both sides of the ball for Auburn. All LSU in this one.

North Carolina State Wolfpack at Clemson Tigers (-6.5)

Clemson remained unbeaten with an overtime victory over Wake Forest last season. I underrated this Clemson team coming into the season. They pack more of a punch than I gave them credit. Take the Tigers at home.

Georgia Bulldogs (-28) at Missouri Tigers

Georgia was sleepwalking last week in a victory over Kent State, and I expect they received a tongue lashing, despite the 17-point win. Georgia romps from start to finish in this one.

West Virginia Mountaineers at Texas Longhorns (-9.5)

Texas fans are disappointed heading into this one. The Longhorns were upset by in-state rivals Texas Tech last week. The Texas program is on the right path for the first time in a long time, so expect a rebound performance in this one. Take the Longhorns.

Arizona State Sun Devils at USC Trojans (-25)

USC was lucky to survive an uneven performance last week against Oregon State. The Trojans perform significantly better this week at home against an overmatched Sun Devil program. Take the Trojans.

Stanford Cardinal at Oregon Ducks (-17)

Every year, the Stanford Cardinal plays the Oregon Ducks tough. I haven't learned my lesson. Oregon is far superior and should win this game BIG. Take the Ducks.
