9/29/22: THE PREGAME--Breaking Down Every NFL game for Week 4

Ryan Broyles
09-29-2022

Last weekend was one of the wildest rides we have had in quite some time. There were times when I was shaking my head in disbelief--nothing was making sense. If you have done this long enough, you know there will be days/weeks like this!

It took a Cooper Rush-led Cowboys upset to get us back to the waterline mark. After the dust had settled, we went 8-8 ATS and 8-8 O/U. Just call me 'Even Steven.'

That brings our season total to 25-23 ATS and 25-23 O/U for a combined 50-46 record.

Mediocrity is not the bar we set. We turn our attention to Week Four and will triumph. In the process, win you some MONEY!

WEEK 4:

Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5) (48)

The Miami Dolphins remain the lone unbeaten team in the AFC at 3-0. The Cincinnati Bengals got off the snide with their first victory. The Dolphins will come crashing down from these emotional highs at some point. Traveling on a short week with various injuries across the offense, I'll take the Bengals at home to get it done.

Bengals 27

Dolphins 24

Minnesota Vikings (-2.5) at New Orleans Saints (44.5)

The combination of traveling overseas with an injured QB in Jameis Winston is an ominous sign for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints do a good job of limiting the opposition's #1 receiver so expect a lower-scoring game. I'll lean the Vikings in this one.

Vikings 23

Saints 20

Cleveland Browns (-3) at Atlanta Falcons (46.5)

The Browns should have the upper hand in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Expect a conservative approach from both sides in this one. The Browns running game is the 'X' factor in this one. Take Cleveland.

Browns 24

Falcons 20

Buffalo Bills (-3) at Baltimore Ravens (54)

Josh Allen vs. Lamar Jackson. The Bills vs. The Ravens. The NFL doesn't get much more exciting than this. Lamar Jackson single-handedly is leading the Ravens to victory. The Bills, as a team, are too much for Lamar in this one. Take Buffalo to get back on track in this one.

Bills 31

Ravens 27

Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys (-3) (42.5)

Cooper Rush has kept the Cowboys' season on course in the absence of Dak Prescott. The Cowboys' front seven should have a field day against a Commanders' offensive line that just surrendered nine sacks last week. Dallas keeps it rolling in Big D.

Cowboys 23

Commanders 17

Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions (-6) (48)

My opening thought this week was to take Seattle getting the points. My belief has only strengthened as the week has gone along. Detroit will be without D'Andre Swift in this one, and Amon-Ra St. Brown is more banged up than the team is letting on. The Lions escape with a victory, but Seattle covers.

Lions 27

Seahawks 24

Los Angeles Chargers (-6.5) at Houston Texans (45.5)

The Los Angeles Chargers are a team with Super Bowl aspirations. This week is a must-win game for the Chargers. Houston doesn't have enough firepower to keep pace in this one.

Chargers 27

Texans 20

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (-3.5) (43.5)

The Colts were able to shock the Kansas City Chiefs last week, in the process, getting their season back on course. Expect Matt Ryan and the Colts' offense to gel and exploit a Titans' defense that is struggling against the pass.

Colts 24

Titans 17

Chicago Bears at New York Giants (-3) (39.5)

Nothing puts butts in the seats like a Justin Fields/Daniel Jones contest. Neither team has the offensive weaponry to push this game to the over. I'll take the team with the QB that I trust slightly more. I'll take the Giants.

Giants 17

Bears 13

Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles (-7) (47.5)

The Philadelphia Eagles are the lone unbeaten team in the NFC. The Jacksonville Jaguars were highly impressive last week as they throttled the Chargers. Coming off of a high note, expect the Jaguars to come back to earth a bit. I'll stick with the red hot Birds. Take Philadelphia.

Eagles 31

Jaguars 21

New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5) (41.5)

Zach Wilson will likely be back under center for the Jets this week. The Steelers struggled last Thursday Night on the road, but I expect them to play much better, with extra rest, at home in this one. Take Pittsburgh.

Steelers 24

Jets 20

Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers (-1) (44)

A battle of two former Oklahoma Sooner QBs as Baker Mayfield hosts Kyler Murray. Neither team has been impressive in the early going. If there is one most impressive unit, I do like the improvements made by the Panthers' defense. The Panthers do just enough to notch the victory.

Panthers 24

Cardinals 21

New England Patriots at Green Bay Packers (-8.5) (42)

With Brian Hoyer at QB, I don't see how the Patriots stand a chance in this one. The Packers feel like a team that is figuring things out. Aaron Rodgers and the Pack roll in this one.

Packers 27

Patriots 13

Denver Broncos at Las Vegas Raiders (-1.5) (46)

The Broncos have to figure things out soon, right? If there has ever been a get-right game, this is the one for Denver.

Broncos 27

Raiders 24

Kansas City Chiefs (-2.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (47.5)

In a game featuring Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, expect a bit of a feeling out process early in this one. The Buccaneers should get some of their weapons back in this one, but don't expect Tampa to fire on all cylinders. It takes time to develop chemistry, and the Buccaneers have not had it. Kansas City needs a strong showing following a shocking loss to Indianapolis in Week 3. I'll take Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs passing game to get it done on the road.

Chiefs 24

Buccaneers 21

Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers (-2) (47) (U)

The Rams and 49ers know each other VERY well. The Rams have struggled to find consistency on offense so far in 2022. The 49ers are still trying to figure out life with Jimmy Garoppolo at QB again. I'll take the road Rams to sneak out a victory on the road on Monday Night Football.

Rams 23

49ers 20
