GlicksPicks CBB Saturday 1/14

Who is ready for an entire Saturday edition of Glick’s College Basketball picks? I know I am ready to fully attack the slate. College Basketball is officially in full force as we have a lot of games on this great Saturday. Let’s take a look at the eight plays I am playing today.

North Dakota State/ Nebraska Omaha Over 143 (-110):

If you don’t know the name Grant Nelson you are missing out. He is a flat-out scorer for the Bison and is ready for another big performance. Nebraska Omaha loves to give up points and has allowed 74 or more in four of their last five conference games. North Dakota State dropped 90 on Denver this week so feed me this over.

North Texas (+3.5) vs FAU

The Mean Green traveled to Boca Raton to face one of the greatest stories in college basketball. FAU enters this game at 15-1 and has dominated Conference USA thus far. That ends today in a game where the Mean Green is flying way under the radar as they seek revenge. Dropping a game to FAU 50-46 in Denton will serve as extra motivation. I will stick with the points, but Boca's winning streak ends today.

Delaware (+8.5) vs Hofstra 

The Blue Hens are getting 8.5 to a high-scoring Hofstra squad. Delaware is still one of the best colonial teams and they will show why this afternoon. 8.5 is simply too many points for a squad they are very similar against. Feed me Delaware plus 8.5 as Speedy Claxton’s squad isn’t covering today.

UCF vs Tulane (-2):

Trevis might hate me once again but I have to fade UCF. Tulane is a good team and the challenger to Houston in the American Atheltic Conference. Also playing this game in Tulane will make the difference. UCF is squarely on the bubble and needs this road game on its resume. I just don’t trust them to score enough against a stingy Tulane defense. Green Wave survives and covers the 2-point spread at home. 

Stephen F Austin vs Southern Utah (-3):

A huge game takes place in the WAC this afternoon. 5-0 Stephen F Austin travels to 4-1 Southern Utah. Cedar City will be on fire today to try to end the Lumberjack's undefeated start to league play. Southern Utah is in its first season in the WAC and has shown how explosive they are on offense. They just exposed a good defense vs Sam Houston in Cedar City this week. They will do so again today, cover this three-point spread, and end the Lumberjack's fast start.

Georgia Southern (+9) vs James Madison 

Georgia Southern travels to James Madison to take on a talented Sun Belt squad. Georgia Southern has started off their Sun Belt campaign successfully tied at first at 4-1. Coming off a buzzer-beater this week at App State the team is feeling good going into this matchup. James Madison has struggled in conference play sitting at 2-3. James Madison will continue their slide of losing 3 games in a row and at the very least not cover this 9 point spread.

Utah vs USC (-4):

I have to pick a power five game right? So let’s head to Pac-12 after Dark and trust our coin with Boogie Ellis and USC. The Trojans have done solid in conference play and covered their spread against a similar Colorado team on Thursday Night. Utah got boat raced to cross-town rival UCLA on Thursday and is slowly slipping off the bubble. USC will out-talent them all evening and will cover these four spread.

Saint Mary’s vs San Fran (+7.5):

Who wants a late-night sweat? No better sweat than San Fran going past 1 AM eastern time. The Dons have been been very close but haven’t come away victorious. 7.5 is simply too many points for how Saint Mary’s plays basketball. At a slow tempo, they will have a difficult time covering a hefty spread on the road. San Fran almost beat Gonzaga in this same gym and tonight I have a feeling they might pull this one outright tonight.
