MLB Betting 4/18/23 - HR Predictor

Welcome in to a new article for 2023...the HR Predictor! This will be a daily article, where I use my own research to highlight a few names I think are in a great position to hit a homerun on each days slate! These are low unit bets -- between 0.1 and 0.3 units -- with typically high-odds and we will only need to hit one or two a week to make some money! If you're interested in all of my MLB betting and prop picks, plus access to our PrizePicks Predictor, you can sign-up by clicking HERE. With that being said, let's dive in...

UPDATED HR RECORD: 9-19 +$349.00

Note: This unit scale is $100 = 1 unit.

George Springer +360 (0.25u)

We hit the Kris Bryant homer last night, which means it's time to start up another 4+ day streak of hitting HR props, starting with George Springer! I've loved what I've seen from Springer at the plate recently, he's had a few loud fly-outs and I think that a power surge could be coming soon for the Blue Jays lead-off man. This is a great match-up against Jose Urquidy, who has always allowed above-average power to right-handed hitters. He pounds the zone with fastballs, which is great news for Springer who is one of the best fastball hitters in the AL. Over the last few seasons he owns a massive .440 ISO against the pitch, far and away the highest mark on the Blue Jays roster. Springer has homered off Urquidy before, and I think there's value in dabbling with him to hit the first HR of the game at +800 with a potential lead-off homer in play tonight -- should he see a fastball to hit.

Byron Buxton +380 (0.2u)

Chris Sale has struggled so far in 2023, allowing five homeruns in three starts and giving up at least one in every start this season. We know that Byron Buxton has massive power, but that's even more so against left-handed pitching with a huge .315 ISO since the start of last season. He matches up well against Sale's pitch mix - and owns a career 97 mph average exit velocity in 15 career at-bats against Sale. I always consider him against a lefty, but this seems to be the worst version of Chris Sale we've seen and I like the spot for him on Tuesday night.
