Week 3 CFB Best Bets: Glicks Picks

Hello and welcome back everyone for week 3 of GlicksPicks. Last week I crushed going 4-1 and the intention is to keep that winning moving forward. This week I had to work harder to find the right spots given the lack of marquee matchups. Don’t stress because they have been found and are ready to crush Saturday! With all that being said let’s take a look at what I am riding in college football this weekend.

LSU vs. Miss State (+9.5) at 12pm EST

The Tigers of LSU are hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive with a tough road test. Nothing better than SEC football on a Saturday between these two squads. Does quarterback Jayden Daniels figure out this stout Bulldog defense in Starkville? I believe he does just enough to win this game but Mississippi State on the road is no easy task. Given the hostile road environment and LSU's early season defensive issues, I am taking the Bulldogs to cover.

The play: Miss State +9.5

Kansas State vs. Missouri (+3.5) at 12pm EST

This game has the makings of an instant classic. Go ahead and grab a cup of coffee because this early slate is where I see the most entertainment taking place on Saturday. The Wildcats impressed me in week 2 dismantling a talented Troy team, that I picked to cover. I am not making the same mistake this week despite going on the road against an SEC opponent. Head coach Eliah Drinkwitz in his tenure at Missouri has struggled to beat Top 25 foes. I don’t see that changing this week in Columbia, feed me the Wildcats with the -3.5.

The play: K State -3.5

Tennessee vs Florida (+6) at 7pm EST

A classic SEC rivalry is back in the Swamp in week 3! From what my Dad tells me this rivalry shined in the late 80’s and 90’s. Well I would love some of that hostility and competetive nature to be exploited in this matchup. I am throwing out the performance against Utah and buying back into the Gators. I think Florida at home is a different animal, and this Tennessee offense isn’t the same without Hendon Hooker. I faded the Gators correctly in week 1 and now am backing them in week 3.

The play: Florida +6

South Alabama (+7) vs Oklahoma State at 7pm EST

The Jaguars of South Alabama are looking to make a statement out of conference against a power five opponent. The Cowboys are quietly 2-0 after last week’s road victory over Arizona State. If you read the article last week we cashed that ticket late night and now we go back to the well. The Cowboys have somehow managed to win with all kind of quarterback issues. It’s only week 3 and Oklahoma State has used three different quarterbacks and none of them have been particularly impressive. With that being said I don’t care. The game is in Stillwater and the Cowboys cover this small spread at home winninng by double digits.

The play: Oklahoma State -7

 

Mid Major Special

Liberty vs. Buffalo (+3) at 12pm EST

Last week’s mid major special featured this same Liberty Flames squad. They excelled and covered the spread for us with an explosive offense. Now they are only three point favorites against a Buffalo team who lost to FCS Fordham last week. You know what I see when looking at that line… Trap! So the only right play in this game is to take Buffalo plus the three  and close your eyes and pray.

The play: Buffalo +3
