PGA Best Bets - Zozo Championship

Danny Carpenter
10-17-2023

I still can’t get anyone in contention with my PGA Bets to Win.

I had a feeling Tom Kim or Ludvig Aberg was going to win last week, but their odds were so low I didn’t think they were smart plays.

Three of my 4 plays last week made the cut. Vincent Norrman was the only one who didn’t see the weekend.

This week the fall schedule heads to the limited-field Zozo Championship in Japan.

Let’s get right into my PGA Bets to Win!

Rickie Fowler

+1600 on DraftKings

Fowler’s resurgence was impressive this season. He finally got back into the win column, claiming the Rocket Mortgage Classic in July.

This week he has the statistical makeup to excel at the Narashino Country Club. However, he may need to knock off some rust since his last tournament was at the Tour Championship.

He ranks in the Top 20 in 9 of 11 categories this week, including all 4 of my course fit categories.

Eric Cole

+3500 on DraftKings

If you had watched Cole during his first round at the Shriners Children’s Open, you would have said no way he contends.

He finished a tie for third by the time the weekend ended after starting 2-over in his first three holes.

This week he ranked in the Top 20 in the field in 7 of 11 categories, including 3 course fit categories.

The only thing missing during his stellar rookie season is a win.

J.J. Spaun

+5500 on FanDuel

Spaun has been one round away from being in contention in the two fall events he has played.

He shot a 5-under during the first round of the Shriners Children’s Open last week. But a second-round 73 almost knocked him out for the weekend and he never contended on Saturday and Sunday.

A sluggish first round at the Fortinet Championship limited the upside to a tie for 11th.

He ranks Top 20 in 8 of 11 categories, including all 4 course fit stats, this week for the Zozo.

Ryo Hisatsune

+8000 on FanDuel

The odds do not match the golfer.

Hisatsune just recently won in France last month and placed tied for 12th in last year’s Zozo Championships.

And he has the stats to back it up.

He would be in the Top 10 on the PGA Tour in six categories I used this week for my spreadsheet. However, he is also part of the no-putt club.

Kevin Yu

+20000 on FanDuel

With this being a no-cut event, Yu could be a scary darkhorse.

He has the game to rattle off birdies and eagles in a hurry, but his putter can send him in the other direction just as fast.

We just need him to get hot and play with confidence since there is no cut.

He ranks in the Top 20 this week in 5 of 11 categories.
