PGA Tour: The Sentry - Danny's Bets to Win

Danny Carpenter
01-03-2024

The PGA Tour begins the 2024 season in its usual place – Hawaii.

The Top 50 from last year’s points list along with PGA Tour winners head to the Plantation Course at Kapalua for The Sentry (par 73, 7,596 yards).

I ran a little unlucky trying to pick a winner during the Fall Series, but hopefully I can start the 2024 on the right foot in my Bet to Win Picks.

The Sentry is the first of eight Signature Events of the 2024 FedExCup Regular Season. There are only 59 golfers playing this week’s no-cut event.

Scottie Scheffler

+550 on DraftKings

I know he’s not a big bang for the buck play, but Scheffler could in line for a big season.

He may have fixed his putting woes as he won the Hero World Challenge with a new putter.

The rest of his game is well suited at Kapalua, where he had a T-7 last year after a disappointing final round of -3.

Colin Morikawa

+1200 on DraftKings

Morikawa snatched a loss out of the jaws of victory last season.

He had a six-stroke lead heading into the final round of last year’s event, only to watch Jon Rahm shoot a 10-under in the fourth round to win by two strokes.

Morikawa has finished in the Top 7 the last four years.

Ludvig Aberg

+1400 on DraftKings

He will be another golfer I will probably place a lot of money on this season.

Since turning pro during the summer after finishing as the top golfer in college, Aberg is has been a beast on the course.

He has six Top 13 finishes in six World Tour and PGA Tour events since the end of August, including two victories.

Tom Kim

+3000 on FanDuel

Kim has some upside heading into The Sentry after a T5 finish last year.

He also had a good fall in the four World Tour and PGA events he played in. He successfully defended his Shriners Children’s Open title and had Top 20 finishes in his other three events.

Kim is sixth on my spreadsheet as a strong course fit.

Akshay Bhatia

+15000 on FanDuel

Bhatia reached The Sentry with his win at the Barracuda Classic in July.

But he has shown a penchant of playing well on courses near the ocean. He has a second and three other Top 20s during the 2022-23 season on ocean courses.

Bhatia is fifth on my spreadsheet as a strong course fit.
