PGA Tour: Sony Open - Danny's Bets to Win

Danny Carpenter

It’s a shame I didn’t put down some second-round or third-round leading bets with my Bets to Win last week.

Scottie Scheffler and Akshay Bhatia had my hopes up after the two held leads at the end of their respective rounds on Friday and Saturday. Then came the heartbreak.

This is the biggest I’ve learned when betting or playing DFS golf – it’s four rounds of misery most of the time. But when you get it right, it’s pure bliss.

Onto the Sony Open Bet to Win Picks!

Ludvig Aberg

+1800 on Caesars Sportsbook

I’m going to the well again in picking a favorite to win in a golf tournament, and it may be a losing cause.

However, Aberg should be able to take advantage of his No. 1 weapon this week – his driver.

He’s long and accurate which is needed to avoid unpredictable mayhem off the fairways of Wai’alae Country Club.

Eric Cole

+3000 on FanDuel

It’s hard to ignore Cole’s fortitude of scoring a low number every week.

He has rattled Top 14 finishes in five of his last six events, including a second, two thirds and a fourth.

His elite approach play will be needed to go low at the Sony Open.

Justin Rose

+4500 on BetMGM

Rose is a sneaky pick this week, but he checks all the boxes to make a strong run.

He is Top 20 in this field in SG: approach, SG: putting and two approach buckets (150-175 and 175-200) which are needed at Wai’alae.

Plus, he finished The Sentry strong last week, posting a 12-under 61 in the final round.

Adam Svensson

+5000 on BetMGM

Svensson has proven he can make a run at the Sony Open, finishing T7 in 2022. But he will need to polish up his putting to make another title run.

He lost 1.19 strokes putting last year at the event after putting well in 2022.

Svensson doesn’t have any flashy stats for the Sony, but it is his balanced game that might propel him to claim this week’s trophy.

Will Zalatoris

+6000 on Caesars Sportsbook

Zalatoris was downright awful at the Hero World Challenge in December, but I’m taking a chance he was just knocking the rust of his game in that event.

If he can find his elite approach game and putting, he could be the surprising winner vs. a very good field at the Sony.
