PGA Tour: The Genesis Invitational - Danny's Bets to Win

Danny Carpenter

I had the numbers but the horses couldn’t get me to the finish line last week.

Sam Burns, Jordan Spieth and Kurt Kitayama each entered the final round in the Top 10 and within striking distance of taking down the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

However, Burns had a big fourth round to shoot a 7-under but fell short of the playoff with Nick Taylor and Charley Hoffman. Spieth and Kitayama both faded from the top in the final round.

I can’t complain too much as I’ve picked the winner in 1 out of 6 tournaments this season. Matthieu Pavon’s big win at the Farmers Insurance Open will carry me for most of the season.

Onto The Genesis Invitational Bet to Win Picks:

Justin Thomas

+1900 on DraftKings (+300 odds boost)

Thomas continues to knock on the door but he hasn’t find the right combination to bust through.

Since the beginning of the Fall Series, he has 6 Top 12 finishes, including four Top 5 finishes.

Plus, he has proven in the past, winning two PGA Championship, he can win a tournament vs. a stellar field of opponents.

Adam Scott

+2500 on DraftKings

Scott is a two-time champion of this event with his most recent in 2020.

If he can start fast, he may have a chance on Sunday. Slow starts at Pebble Beach and Phoenix kept him on the outside looking in at the leaders.

His elite approach game will put him in the hunt.

Nicolai Hojgaard

+5000 on DraftKings

My biggest concern with Hojgaard is first-timers usually don’t win at The Riviera Country Club.

However, Hojgaard’s first visit to Torrey Pines almost resulted in a win. He finished second to Pavon.

Hojgaard’s strong approach game, putting and distance off the tee should give him a chance to contend.

Kurt Kitayama

+6500 on DraftKings

I’m going back to Kitayama after his strong play last week in Phoenix.

Kitayama’s approach game should fit in nicely at The Riviera. The Riviera Country Club and TPC Scottsdale have similar approach buckets numbers that is needed to have success.

Sam Ryder

+25000 on DraftKings

If the longshots keep winning, why not take a chance on Ryder?

He enters the tournament as the best course fit player from my spreadsheet. His elite approach play will be needed for the longshots to continue their winning run on the PGA Tour this season.
