NFL Week 2 - Danny's Best Bets

Danny Carpenter
09-13-2024

It was sluggish start to my Best Bets.

But thanks to Kenneth Walker III surpassing 74.5 yards rushing, it salvaged my day with a 2-3 record (and won a little juice on the Walker bet, too).

But as I’ve learned in my years of betting, NFL may be the hardest league to win against the sportsbook.

The league has earned its motto of any given Sunday, well.

Record: 2-3 (.400)

Overall: 2-3 (.400)

Now onto NFL Week 2 – Danny’s Best Bets.

NY Jets at Tennessee

Tennessee +3.5 on DraftKings

I know this pick may bite me in the butt, but hear me out.

The Titans defense may be a pleasant surprise this season after it watched its offense blow a big lead at Chicago last week.

Plus, last season teams that played on Monday night were 24-20 overall and 19-20-5 ATS.

Teams favored on the road after playing in a Monday Night game were 4-3-1 ATS. It was a modest record but two of those wins were by the two Super Bowl participants last season – Kansas City and San Francisco.

Give me the home dog!

Tampa Bay at Detroit

Over 51 on DraftKings

This is my based-off-DFS-spreadsheet play.

My spreadsheet has both QB as strong plays, while the running back and wide receiver corps of both teams are ranked highly.

I’m expecting the offenses to continue to roll after their strong performances last week. The Buccaneers beat Washington, 37-20, while the Lions downed LA Rams, 26-20.

NY Giants at Washington

Jayden Daniels over 50.5 rushing yards on BetRivers

Over 45 on BetMGM

I’m double dipping for the first time this season on this game.

Jayden Daniels was the best rookie QB last week, and now faces a Giants defense that struggled on the road last season. The Giants were 27th for worse in DFS in five of their nine road games in 2023.

Daniels rushed for 88 yards and two scores last week against a Tampa Bay defense that was expected to be a good run defense.

As for the over – history says 45 points is too low.

Last five times these two NFC East Division rivals played in D.C., they have combined to average 52.2 points a game.

LA Rams at Arizona

Kyren Williams 80+ alternate rushing yards (+105) on DraftKings

To say Williams likes playing against the Cardinals is putting it lightly.

He rushed for a combined 301 yards in two games vs. Arizona in 2023.

And with Ronnie Rivers as the apparent back-up, Williams should get the majority of the backfield touches again for the Rams.
