New York Liberty vs Seattle Storm (ESPN) 12:00 EST:

Inactive Starters:

Liberty: None!

Storm: None!

Projected Starters:

Liberty: Sabrina Ionescu, Kia Nurse, Jocelyn Willoughby, Kylee Shook, Amanda Zahui B.

Storm: Sue Bird, Jewell Loyd, Alysha Clark, Breanna Stewart, Natasha Howard

Seattle Storm -3 First Quarter Spread: The Storm look to come out strong against a rebuilding Liberty team. The Storm may have the best roster in the league after finishing just over .500 last year they return their two best players; Breanna Stewart and Sue Bird. Even though I’m sure everyone is hyped to see Sabrina go off today, the Liberty are just not in a situation to start the game off on a good note. Seattle is one of the best defensive teams in the league going against a very young team in the Liberty that will lead to the potential for a lot of steals and transition buckets for the Storm. On top of no offseason prep for the Liberty, none of these players really know each other well enough to have a good first quarter. Let alone first good game.

LA Sparks vs Phoenix Mercury (ABC) 3:00 EST :

Inactive Starters:

Sparks: None!

Mercury: None!

Projected Starters:

Sparks: Chelsea Gray, Riquna Williams, Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, Candace Parker, Nneka Ogwumike

Mercury: Skylar Diggins-Smith, Diana Taurasi, Nia Coffey, Brianna Turner, Brittney Griner

Sparks Full Game -3 Spread: This should be the best game of the afternoon. We will get to watch the big 3 of the Sparks take on the a much weaker big 3 of the Mercury. I will be giving the edge to the Sparks in the matchup. Taurasi is an aging superstar and we are not sure how healthy she will be or how much run she can take. She has apparently looked great in practice but that’s completely different from game speed. Skylar Diggins-Smith is going to need to find a way to mesh with a new team, leaving Griner to take the full weight of this team against two of the best bigs in the game. The Mercury are out matched with starters and the bench so I just don’t see any edge for the Mercury to pull this game out.

Indiana Fever vs Washington Mystics (CBS) 5:00 EST:

Inactive Starters:

Fever: Erica Wheeler and Lauren Cox

Mystics: Elena Delle Donne (Still waiting for confirmation she isn’t playing this season but she is not in the bubble)

Projected Starters:

Fever: Julie Allenmand, Kelsey Mitchell, Victoria Vivians, Candice Dupree, Teaira McCowan

Mystics: Leilani Mitchell, Aerial Powers, Ariel Atkins, Emma Meesseman, Myisha Hines-Allen

Fever +2.5 2 units: This is my favorite bet on the slate. The Fever should be favorited in this game. I like the ML as well but I am going with the safer choice because Erica Wheeler is out for the Fever. I touched on the Mystics troubles in my WNBA Season Preview article, but it appears the oddsmakers have not come to the realization that the Mystics are not going to be good. They are missing basically every good player on their team outside of Meesseman. She is going to try to carry the load this season but I just don’t see how they can win many games. The Fever pose a huge mismatch for the Mystics inside. They have a strong frontcourt in Candace Dupree and Teaira McCowan. McCowan is coming off a strong rookie campaign averaging close to a double-double. She looks to take a huge leap this year to try to become one of the league’s best bigs. Without Tina Charles, Elena Delle-Donne, and LaTonya Sanders the Mystics just don’t have anyone to compete with McCowan’s 6’7 240-pound frame. The Mystics are projecting to start Hines-Allen at center today who gives up 6 inches and 40 pounds. This should lead to many second chance opportunities for the Fever. Even without Wheeler the Fever still have Tiffany and Kelsey Mitchell providing scoring from the guard position. The Mystics were one of the best defensive teams in the league especially from the guard spot, but they will be without Cloud and Toliver from their championship team they just aren't the same defensively.

Bonus Parlay: Seattle Storm First Quarter Moneyline (-265) + LA Sparks Full Game MoneyLine (-155) + Indiana Fever +2.5 Full Game Spread (-112) = +333 Parlay for 0.5 units!
