Frank's NHL Dice Roll-1/28

Welcome to my latest edition of the NHL dice roll. I strive to give you keen betting angles to exploit, and just taking a look at today's schedule there are many directions to go with 28 teams taking to the ice. When I find a wager that I feel strong enough to play myself, I will post it on Bet Karma.

Season record 1-2, -1.5 units
Let's look at who I like to get us back on track from tonight's 14 game NHL slate:
(all lines shown are from DraftKings Sportsbook)

Columbus Blue Jackets ML (-117) Play 2.34 units to win 2 units

Professional athletes, especially hockey players are ego-driven. The Blue Jackets just lost to these same Florida Panthers two nights ago and that home ice loss did not sit very well with the players or coaches. Not only have NHL teams coming off a loss and playing at home won at a 64% clip so far this season, but Columbus is the better team and at an affordable price. I'll take that.

Vegas Golden Knights ML (-141) Play 1.41 units to win 1 unit

The Golden Knights are a very strong NHL team, and may just win the Stanley Cup this season. They are in a similar situation as Columbus in that they just lost on Tuesday to tonight's opponent, the St. Louis Blues. Since favorites off a loss have won 78% of the time this season, I will ride the revenge game theory and back Vegas at home here.

Minnesota Wild ML (-158) Play 1.58 units to win 1 unit

This may seem like a lot of juice to lay, but hear me out. I have a geographical closeness to this Wild team and watch every one of their games. They have a trend this season to play close 1st periods, then get outplayed in the 2nd, and dominate play in the 3rd. It has led them to a winning record so far. Even in games they haven't won, they have just been unlucky. In Tuesday night's game, they had shots hit the goalpost and deflect out three different times, and lost the game by one goal. This is their third meeting with Los Angeles. Couple their winning play with the trend that home favorites in the third matchup of the year have won 71% of games all-time has me on the Wild to win tonight.

Best of luck and enjoy the full NHL schedule today.
