NBA Trends and Line Movement (3/18)

Justin Bales
03-18-2021

The new Bet Karma NBA Trends page is designed to show the line movement in team totals, spreads, and game totals. Each section features the opening number, live number, and difference between the two. The movement is taken from the DraftKings Sportsbook

In this article, I’ll breakdown the movement from one game with the corresponding player prop bet from our Prop Predictor. All of our player props can be found on the Live Odds page by clicking “view props” for each individual game.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks opened as 7.5 point home favorites against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The lines shifted slightly towards Oklahoma City, as Atlanta is now only a 7 point favorite. The game total opened at 226.5 points, dropping to 225.5 throughout the day. The Thunder’s team total shifted from 109.5 to 109.25, while the Hawks’ moved from 117 to 116.25.

These teams have been similar against the spread (ATS) this season. Oklahoma City’s covered in 53.8% of their games, while Atlanta’s covered in 51.3% of theirs. The Hawks boast a similar cover percentage at home, although the Thunder boast a 13-7 road ATS record this season.

These teams are similar in terms of the over/under percentages, as well. Oklahoma City’s found the over and under in 50% of their contests, while Atlanta’s hit the under in 52.5% of theirs. Once again, the Hawks boast a similar percentage at home. The Thunder have hit the under in 60% of their road games, though.

This game features a couple of outstanding bets. Kevin Huerter’s rebounding total is set at 3.5 tonight. He owns a Karma Projection of 4.4, though. The difference gives the over an A+ Karma Grade by our Prop Predictor.

Huerter’s seen mixed results rebounding this season. He’s averaging 3.7 rebounds in 31.5 minutes per game through 40 contests. Huerter’s also averaging 4.0 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game since the All-Star Break. He’s posted 4+ rebounds in 6 of his last 8 games, though.

Huerter will continue to get minutes in the high-20s or low-30s for Atlanta tonight. This is a solid matchup, and the over is one of our Prop Predictors favorite bets tonight.
