MLB Trends and Line Movement (5/20)

Justin Bales

The Bet Karma MLB Trends page is designed to show the line movement in team totals, the moneyline, and game totals. Each section features the opening number, live number, and difference between the two. The movement is taken from the DraftKings Sportsbook

In this article, I’ll break down the line movement from one game with a corresponding player prop bet from our Prop Predictor. All of our player props can be found on the Live Odds page by clicking “view props” for each game.

Miami Marlins vs Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies opened as -130 home favorites against the Miami Marlins. The line shifted slightly toward Miami, as Philadelphia is now a -121 favorite. The game total opened at 7.5 runs, increasing to 8 throughout the day. The Marlins team total jumped from 3.6 to 4, while the Phillies moved from 4.2 to 4.4.

Miami’s found success in terms of the run line, covering it in 54.8% of their games this season. Philadelphia hasn’t performed as well, covering it in only 48.8% of theirs. The Phillies have struggled at home, as well, where they own a 10-11 run line record. The Marlins quietly boast a 15-10 road run line record in 2021.

Both of these teams are relatively neutral in terms of the over/under. Philadelphia’s hit the over in 51.2% of their games, while Miami’s found the under in 51.3% of theirs. At home, the Phillies own a 12-9 over/under record, though. The Marlins continue to be relatively neutral on the road, posting an 11-12-2 road over/under record this season.
