The game of the week had one of the more predictable results, one goal was scored and soccer fans who tuned in were likely disappointed in the result. When two juggernauts with the skill level of Chelsea and Manchester City face off, low scoring affairs are expected. Sunday’s action has a Serie A game that has my attention.
The start of the season for Juventus could not have gone worse. A draw against Udinese where questionable keeper play allowed them to conceded consecutive goals, a loss to league newcomers Empoli, and the departure of superstar Christiano Ronaldo; a terrible recipe for a disappointed coach and restless fans. Luckily for them they were able to pick up their first win of the season when it matters the most, a Champions League smashing of Malmo.
Outside of that Malmo match, Juventus have conceded in every game they have played. Their defense has been less than stellar. Allegri has a lot of work ahead of him to rebuild the Juventus back to it’s glory days. This game has look ahead game written all over it. They have a Wednesday Champions League fixture with Chelsea. I would expect some players to rest and the ones that play to not be fully focused on the match with Sampdoria.
Backing Sampdoria to score this season has been a rollercoaster this season. They have been shut out three times and have looked like a club likelier to get relegated than score a goal in any game they play. Nonetheless, I am sticking by my handicap and the subpar Juve back line. Bet Juventus/Sampdoria BTTS (-123) for 1 unit.
