Steven's PGA Bets: Valero Texas Open

This week’s tournament sports a weaker field as many golfers are preparing for the Master’s next week. Nevertheless, this should still be an entertaining tournament in San Antonio as the Valero Open takes place after a COVID-sabbatical last year.

Valero Texas Open - PGA TOUR - San Antonio, TX

Texas Valero Open

Course: TPC San Antonio

Length: 7,490 yards

Par: 72

Greens: Bermuda

Defending Champion: Corey Conners

Purse: $7.7 Million

FedEx Cup Points: 500 Points to the Winner

Key Stats: SG Approach, Par 5 Scoring, Opportunities Gained, SG OTT, and SG Ball Striking

Ryan Palmer | Outright +2500 (1 Unit), Top 10 +250 (1 Unit)

Going to roll with the guy from my hometown this week, Ryan Palmer. He’s a Texan that ranks 14th in my model overall and 1st in SG Par 5s. His last start was a T-17 at The Players and he also has three Top 6 finishes at this tournament in the last five years (MC last two years). I expect him to play well this week and like his odds at 25/1.

Ryan Moore | Outright +8000 (1 Unit), Top 5 +1400 (1 Unit)

I love Ryan Moore this week. This tournament just feels like the type of tournament where we usually see guys like Ryan Moore play well and compete late in the afternoon on Sunday. He missed the cut at the Honda Classic but did post a T-35 at The Players in a stacked field. This week will be anything but a stacked field. Ranks in the Top 20 in my model and has finished in the Top 10 in the last two years at this tournament.

Other Outright Bet Considerations: Matthew NeSmith (+10000), Luke List (+14000)

Best Finishing Position Group Bets

Ancer over Matsuyama -103

Conners over Scheffler +105

Woodland over Vegas -110

Kirk over Griffin -103

Moore over Huh -109
